So I've begun to research stuff for the second web-based art project.. Choosing a text/poem or a collection of images/etc. to create an interactive text or a gallery to display the collection.
Although creating the gallery is what I'd rather do (I think it'd be easier for me..) I really want to do something out of my comfort zone on this project. So I think I'm going to choose a poem and learn to use flash to make it interactive.
I found a few options for poems that I think would be interesting. I stumbled across a lady's blog that discussed the painting(s) done by Marchel DuChamp: "Nude Descending a Staircase" (I and II). A man named XJ Kennedy has created a poem to go along with that artwork (although we're unsure exactly which one).
I think it'd be great to either use this for my project, or find something along the same lines. (A poem describing a work of art). I think it's good because it not only would give a visual to the text.. but it would introduce a new perspective on how a work of art is viewed.. and ultimately a second work of 'art' is displayed (the poem) about the first work of art.
If I decide not to do this I do have a backup plan. I found a useful site, poemhunters.com, which is a pretty large database for poems on various subjects. I searched through a few categories and noted a few that I really liked. I would choose one that utilizes repetition of words and/or is very descriptive and re-write it in flash to make it more visually appealing by adding pictures/cool text effects/etc.
Other than that, I'm pretty unsure on what to do next. My knowledge of flash is VERY very minimal at this point, although I am SO excited to beginning learning about it. It's the Adobe CS4 program I know the least about.
