project #1 - creating a 'gallery' of interesting netart sites

I've got a start to my project now. To my understanding, we have to choose 6-8 sites exemplifying net art in some form.. sites that I find interesting for some reason or another.. and sites that I would want to model my own website/ideas after.

I explored rhizome.org a little bit and discovered that it's kind of like a 'facebook' for new media artists. Any new media artist can create a profile and display their artwork. I not only think it would be a good site to look into joining, but I think that the idea of compiling new media art into one place is a great idea! It's much easier to point someone to one site, rather than multiple, if they're curious as to what new media art is, or if they wish to display their art..

The second place I discovered that caught my eye was communimage.net . It's a collaboration of a whole bunch of different 'artworks' submitted by people to create one larger artwork. It has been out there since 1999. I thought this was a great idea, and it made me wonder.. would it be possible to create one similar to it? One where the art students at UT (or maybe the surrounding areas?) could post up their work.. Potential employees could then access it and click on a random piece of the overall picture to view the artwork and the information about the artist/links to their website. Hmmm... just a thought.

There were two other sites that I found interesting more for the design than anything else (although the ideas behind them are awesome! I wouldn't really consider it netart).
The first is called "The Dumpster". It's a collaboration of 'breakup' messages found on forums, etc. around the internet. It's quite interesting to read, actually. But what first caught my eye was the setup of it. It's visually appealing, yet simple enough to easily navigate.
The second is LivePlasma.com . And it creates for you a 'web' of music (or movies) that are similar to whatever one you type in. I think it is SO helpful and extremely effective. On top of that, I am in love with the design it utilizes. It's very dynamic and fun, and goes along with the theme that it's presenting.

So what I got out of all of this is that I really want my website to take a turn in a certain direction. I alreaProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0

have CoffeeGrounds implemented into a simple web design.. but maybe I can expand it to incorporate a more complex design? Or maybe I could make my main website JfausDesign.com more visually appealing. I've been looking to redesign it anyways.. This would be the perfect opportunity to take advantage of that. Lastly, the idea I could run with is to simply redesign my portfolio page.. maybe implement the 'collaborative artwork' idea?

Just some thoughts..
